Managing Partner Gives Back in Honduras

Greg Blaisdell, Evoke Owner and Managing Partner, traveled to Honduras this week with the Virginia Hospital Center Medical Brigade and the Brigade President, Dr. Barry Byer, as part of a Site Visit to prepare for the group's annual November surgical trip. Each year during the annual trip, the Brigade sends a team of medical experts to Honduras to provide services unavailable anywhere else in the country.

The purpose of the Site Visit was also to check on the status of other Brigade initiatives, such as the Smokeless Stoves that have been installed and water projects that have delivered clean drinking water and sanitation to 7,000 residents of remote mountain villages. During the trip, Mr. Blaisdell and the Brigade Site Visit team members made two trips into the mountains, hiking a total of 19 miles to visit three remote village clinics.

The Brigade and Mr. Blaisdell had the privilege of meeting the Super Minister (equivalent of our White House Chief of Staff), the Minister of Development, the Minister of Health, the Mayor of Comayagua, the Comayagua Rotary Club, the Comayagua Lions Club, members of the National University of Honduras, and the two hospitals in Comayagua - St. Teresa and St. Benedict Joseph Medical Center (http://www.sbjhonduras.com) as well as the Brigade-sponsored clinic in Comayagua run by Dr. Carlos Suazo.

Overall, the trip was an enormous success and a seminal moment for the Brigade as it continues to gain the support of the Honduran Central Government. Evoke is proud of our small role in supporting their success and is committed to continuing its support of the Brigade!

As part of our continued involvement, Evoke may be conducting a benchmarking study of medical facilities in Honduras and leading a business process improvement initiative. If you are interested in getting involved or learning more from Greg's trip, please email him for details by clicking here.
